Namib - July 2003

On this trip we battled to drive up the dunes. The tour leader said he woule assist the "old people" and surprisingly he could not get it right either. Try as musch as we could the vehicle was not managing. Our Hi-Lux was a normally aspirated 2.8 diesel.

On the way home we solved the mystery when we filled up again. The fuel we got in Luderitz was bad and probably contained parrafin. Immediately we refuelled we could feel the difference. It was over a weekend and we did not manage to get a service in Namibia so headed for Upington where they discovered that the engine oil had the consistency of jelly.
